Import from Ultimate Guitar

Importing a song from Ultimate Guitar is easy! Copy the chart, paste it into a new song, and it's ready to play.

Open the editor

Find your song on Ultimate Guitar and open the version you want to play. Select Edit, then Make personal edits. In the Ultimate Guitar mobile app, select the unlabeled pencil icon instead. That gives you the chart as plain text, without the rest of the page around it.

The Ultimate Guitar page for Amazing Grace, version 2, in the key of G. The Edit menu is open below the Edit button with two choices, Make personal edits and Create correction, and Make personal edits is highlighted.

Copy the chart

Delete anything you don't need, such as tab or notes at the top. Then select all of the text and copy it.

You don't need to save your changes on Ultimate Guitar.

Ultimate Guitar's Creating personal tab dialog, with the artist, song, tuning, capo and key fields above a large text box holding the chart. A few lines of G7 tab at the top of the chart are selected, ready to delete. Below them the chart starts at Refrain, with chords written above the lyrics, followed by Verse 1. Cancel and Save as Personal buttons sit at the bottom.

Create the song

In Songstead, create a new song. Give it a title and artist, then select Next.

The first step of the New Song dialog, with Amazing Grace in the Title field, John Newton in the Artist field, the Group field set to Personal, and the Next button highlighted.

Paste it in

Paste the chart into the box. Songstead reads the chords and fills in the key for you. Select Create to save the song and open it.

The second step of the New Song dialog, with the Amazing Grace chart pasted into the chart box starting at Refrain, chords above the lyrics. The Written Key field below it reads G, and the Create button is highlighted.

You're done!

It's just that easy. Your song is now in your library and ready to play.

Amazing Grace open in Songstead, its chart split into Refrain, Verse 1 and Verse 2 with the chords in red above the lyrics, and its key of G, capo and display settings in a panel down the right.
