These terms govern your use of Songstead. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. We've tried to keep this in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
Using Songstead
Songstead is a tool for managing chord charts, setlists, and shared music libraries. You can use it on your own or as part of a group with bandmates, a team, or students. You're responsible for the content you add and for keeping your account credentials secure.
Accounts
You need an account to use Songstead. You must provide accurate information when you sign up, and you're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use Songstead.
Your content
You keep ownership of the songs, chord charts, sets, and other content you create in Songstead. By adding content to the app, you grant us a license to store, display, and process it solely to operate the service for you and anyone you share it with.
You're responsible for having the right to use and share any content you add, including chord charts or lyrics for songs you didn't write.
Groups and shared content
Groups are a core part of the app. Content you share into a group becomes visible to the members of that group according to their role. This is expected behavior, not a bug — it's how the sharing feature works, and it's also described in our Privacy Policy.
Plans, billing, and renewals
Songstead offers a free plan and paid plans. You can see the current plans, features, and prices on our site and in the app. Joining a group is always free — a paid plan is only needed to create your own group.
Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance, either monthly or yearly, through our payment processor, Stripe. Some plans are billed per seat. Prices don't include any taxes that may apply.
Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, charged to your payment method on file, until you cancel.
Free trials. If your plan includes a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription when the trial ends, and your payment method is charged at that point — unless you cancel before the trial is over.
Canceling. You can cancel anytime from the app. You keep your paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for, and then move to the free plan. To avoid the next charge, cancel before your renewal date.
Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. Canceling stops future charges but doesn't refund the current period.
Price changes. We may change our prices. If we do, the new price applies to your next billing period, and we'll let you know in advance.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Songstead for anything illegal or to infringe on someone else's rights.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the app or its infrastructure.
- Upload content you don't have the right to share.
Disclaimers
Songstead is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We're a small, early-stage project, and we don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Songstead isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of data or content. If we're ever found liable for anything, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Governing law
Songstead is operated by an Indiana limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, and any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Indiana.
Termination
You can stop using Songstead and delete your account at any time by emailing contact@songstead.app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We'd rather be straightforward with you than bury changes in fine print.
